About Us

Glider-Equipment has its roots in the family business Van Breemen Automaterialen, a wholesaler of car equipment and tools. In the 1950s, Fred van Breemen discovered the sport of gliding, and soon after, his middle son, Marc, followed in his footsteps.

In 1995, Marc took over Van Breemen Automaterialen. As the demand for gliding-related parts grew and there were few suppliers (outside of glider manufacturers), Marc saw an opportunity and founded Glider-Equipment in 2006. The website, glider-equipment.nl, was launched just a year later, in 2007.

As the business expanded, Marc was joined by his wife Mariska and eldest son Lars, who had been an active glider pilot since the age of 13. After training at the Aircraft Maintenance and Training School, Lars began working for both companies, bringing his hands-on experience and expertise.

Over the years, Glider-Equipment has evolved from a small shop to one of the world’s leading one-stop shops for the gliding community. This growth was further strengthened by the acquisition of Glider Pilot Shop, which also secured the LXNAV and Naviter dealerships. (Glider Pilot Shop will continue to operate under its own trade name as part of Glider-Equipment.)

Thanks to a vast network of pilots and manufacturers, and the combined experience of being both pilots and technicians, Glider-Equipment has been able to scale its operations and become deeply specialized in its product offerings.
